38 ways you can finally stop being a D*ck

A wonderful post today at Ends and Beginnings. I’m adding a few of these to my daily list. Please join me 🙂

Thank you.

Ends and Beginnings

I subscribe to an online magazine called the Elephant Journal which describes itself as “it’s about a mindful life”.

This online journal is one of many, too many, that I get on a daily and weekly basis about Buddhism, liberal Christian thought and mindfulness. Honestly I get so many I rarely read half of them but this particular email headline caught my attention; 38 ways you can finally stop being a D*ck

Here is Via Shivani Vyas, who wrote article, list of 38 suggestions;

Communication:

1. Opt out of engaging in road rage. If someone does happen to show you their lovely middle finger, communicate the peace sign in return and just smile.
2. Be firm but courteous to telemarketers. Remember they are just doing their job to pay their bills.
3. Write a thank you card and mail it to someone who has helped you in any way, big…

If you write, you will definitely find some good resources in Juli’s post!

JULI HOFFMAN

I’m participating in NaNoWriMo this year. Will I get to 50,000 words by the end of this month? I doubt it. I’ve learned that when I turn writing into a “job,” strangely enough, it starts to feel like “work.” Quite frankly, I don’t want that. I have a job. (More than one.) However, I do enjoy the camaraderie of being a NaNo participant. I like seeing all my writer buddies working away at their craft. As long as I’m writing for my own enjoyment, even if I don’t make it to 50,000 words, I haven’t lost anything. I’ll still have my words and chapters, more words and chapters than if I hadn’t participated. Plus, I really would like to write a novel. Something for me. Something I can be proud of.

I just read a great Louise Penny Interview last night, written by herself! It took her 45 years to write her first…

Celebrate #NOVEMBER31 with us at Alexis Chateau PR

Um…YEAH! 🙂 You’re going to need to make it to all the upcoming book events and such anyway. Might as well book your travel at a discount while you can :-).

Alexis Chateau PR

Atlanta, GA — On November 24th 2016, we celebrated over ten years of business with the official launch of our PR firm. We then rewarded ourselves for a month of hard work with a trip to Myrtle Beach. That trip provided one of our teammates, Johnson Sainvil, with the opportunity to expand his tech startup to include travel services.

As the publicist who’d been handling his tech company for the past year, our Managing Director, a travel blogger, became his obvious first-choice for travel ambassador of 1 View Point. Johnson then expanded his offer to grant Alexis Chateau PR shares in his indie travel agency; thus, allowing us to provide travel services in-house.

A year later, and we’re about to officially launch our travel services with our #NOVEMBER31 campaign?

Why Did It Take a Year?

A product of owning global timeshare, we wanted to ensure that every offer, every promise…

#MeToo

#MeToo (sigh)

JULI HOFFMAN

Have you seen this hashtag?

#MeToo

It’s trending on Twitter and being shared widely on Facebook. What is it? There are a few variations, but for the most part, women are being asked to copy and paste this status to highlight how prevalent sexual abuse is against women in our society.

“Me too… If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote ‘Me too’ as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem. Please copy/paste.”

(Also, if a woman doesn’t type “me too” as her status, it doesn’t mean that she didn’t want to. And just because she did say it, doesn’t mean she wants to talk about it.)

I’ve talked about this subject before this hashtag started showing up. I’ve talked with my friends, my colleagues, on social media, and with my family. And yet…I’m shocked that so many people don’t…

3 Rejection Letters Indie Authors Receive

This definitely hit home as both my sales and reviews are LACKING! Great post!

The PBS Blog

I didn’t intend on posting again today but one of my favorite authors posted something to her IG that sparked something I had to share. As you see above, this author is Bernice McFadden and this is her sharing the rejection letters she received for her novel Sugar. I have this book as well as her novels This Bitter Earth, Glorious and I’d like to get my hands on Nowhere is a Place and The Book of Harlan but I digress. Needless to say, the writing is on point. Long story short, you all know that Sugar has gone on to do very well despite the 75 (yes, seventy-five…let that settle) rejection letters. For Indie Authors, we may not be looking for publishers, but we have rejection letters too. I want to encourage you not to give up when you get one:

Negative Reviews – One of our…
