Y’all may or may not know – I’m just not sure who reads this or who doesn’t and Heaven knows I’m still a noob when it comes to social media – anyway, for those of you who don’t know, my Divinity speaks to me through my writing. The written word is how I process life and my emotions; its a form of prayer to me when I write and so what happens is, I download and or receive messages from (insert your higher power of choice here) – my Divinity.
Anyway, I’m working on a story now as I guide my clients through the first ever From Blank Page to Published in Six Months course. We’re doing my signature process (workshop) in real time which means each month for six months, we work a step in the process to self-publishing a novel (or in some cases, a guide book, memoir, or children’s book).
I let my clients vote on which of the many draft ideas I have sitting on my hard drive I’d complete as I coach them through the process. The story they chose is around a young woman who just happens to be a hybrid – half demon (Dark Side, and yes, she has cookies for all my Star Wars meme lovers out there), half angel (Light) so to speak. Without giving anything away, I was at lunch working on getting my word count for the day when I wrote this single line that. damn. near. brought me. to. TEARS!! My Divinity wrapped me in Her arms and whispered the words over and over to my soul. Y’all, I’m tearing up again as I type this.
In that one line, as it is with all of my fiction, is the heart of my most recent struggles as I work through this part of my spiritual awakening. It is the message my Divinity (my writing) wishes to spread to my ideal reader; it is the reason I write. sigh.
It is moments like this that I live for when it comes to putting words to page. It is this moment I strive to help my writing clients experience – that one sentence, word, or point in the process when they realize the power they have to share in the story they’re telling.
Love. This is why I do what I do.
Alright, back to the page. I’ve got a lot more writing to do if I’m going to hit my goal by November 30th. As always, thank you for reading. I’ll chat with you again soon.
